Welcome to my website.  I am so excited you are here and that I get to share this journey with you! If you have questions about this website, please use the Contact Me link to the left, or email me at Keep reading to learn a little more about me.

I am a proud wife and mother in my seventh year of teaching as an English teacher. During my career, I have taught a variety of AP, honors, and college preparatory courses, including 8th grade ELA, English I, English I Honors, English II, English II Honors, AP Language, and AP Literature. I have a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Secondary Education and a minor in Social Studies. In addition to holding my G/T Endorsement, I also earned a Master's degree in Gifted Education with additional coursework above my program requirements in writing instruction.

I was honored to be named the 2013-2014 UCHS Teacher of the Year, the 2014-2015 District Teacher of the Year, and the recipient of the 2016-2017 South Carolina Council of Teachers of English Leadership Development Award (pictured above), and a teacher consultant with the Upstate Writing Project of Clemson University. I am beyond grateful for all of the opportunities to travel and meet other teachers these titles have granted me, including the chance to travel to Chicago last summer as a reader at a National Writing Project Scoring Convention.

Teaching is one of my absolute favorite things to do, along with laughing, reading, writing, singing, cooking, couponing, and traveling. Among my diverse interests are educational technology (particularly those with a collaborative lean), words (especially names), history (specifically 20th century and world cultures), cats (especially kittens), and cool glasses (any and all styles).
